Okay. In MS Word 2003, in the Options dialog box, the Security tab settings
that "remove personal details" are useless if you utilise the Properties
dialog box and {docproperty "fieldname"} fields to populate repeat
information throrughout documents. Custom tab settings appear unaffected by
this setting. Title, Subject, etc all are affected.
To turn off Track changes:
Open the Reviewing toolbar: Tools > Track changes; Ctrl + Shift + E; or
right click your toolbars and click 'Reviewing'.
Go to the Show list.
One by one, deselect ALL the ticked options.
Now, in the Reviewing toolbar, see the button second from the right hand
side? Click it. It should go 'off'.
Oh how intuitive. Breathe deeply once. Swear at Microsoft. Save the file,
close it, open it and you might have to do it all again next time before you
start working on it.
WHAT really infuriates me is the stupidity of losing information like the
'Company' field in the Properties dialog. What utter idiots some of these
developers must be to cow tow to requests by user monkeys who have no idea
what the functions really do? You can't be eveything to everyone. Pick one
thing. And try and be good at that.
Hope that helps clarify some of the drama I have had recently.
Warren.
