atw: Thanks to ALL job advertisers (WAS Re: Re: Business Analyst / Technical Writer - Leading Finance Organisation)

And just to stick in my 0.05, thanks to ANYONE who has a legitimate job to stick on the list.

Some of you must have forgotten how few jobs were posted on the list after 2000/2001. Now that times are buoyant, I say keep posting them and you all have my sincerest thanks (even the low paid ones that I tend to bag).

As for rate, the $70 p/h offered by Bluefin is respectable, particularly coming from an agency and those offering less than that are becoming less competitive as time goes on. No doubt many of these bemoan the lack of quality applicants. As an example, I note one recent list advertiser has been looking for a TW (they actually need several) for at least four months now. If they changed their rate, they'd probably get a better response instead of having to employ trainers as technical writers and then wondering why the work isn't getting done properly. As with all things, if you pay the right toll, you get the right result.:)

BTW, six-months is a good initial contract so you shouldn't knock that either.

Cheers,

Bruce Ashley

I’m only interested in permanent jobs. Why would I give up a permanent job, even at a lower hourly rate, for a six-month contract? It just doesn’t make sense. Tech writers have mortgages, too.
