The ABC Radio National Book Show on Friday morning was a discussion on
the subject of "The art of writing the government report".
One of the guests was Dr Janet Salisbury, director of Biotext, a
Canberra-based science information consultancy. She was described as
"the technical writer and editor for many an official tome, including
the very important Lockhart Review on Therapeutic Cloning Bill."
Janet mentions winning a Distinguished award in the STC Australia
Publications competition and an Excellence award in the international
competition. She also mentions a specific comment from one of the local
judges.
It's an interesting talk on a potentially dry topic. As the title
suggests, it's mostly about government report writing, but there's much
that will be familiar to us toilers in the fields of technical writing.
