atw: Re: was: Another "rates" query

There is usually (and I'd say always but if it had been missed on an
occasion I might be in trouble :-) a section in the ASTCNSW Newsletter that
asks members for feedback. It usually says something along the lines of 'Is
there anything you would like to see in your newsletter or anything you
would like to contribute?' This has a contact email address next to it. This
may not be what you consider the best way of gaining feedback but from my
point of view it is at least a clear attempt at feedback. It is also an
attempt to make the newsletter as widely relevant as possible. If this is
achieved then that will carry through into other areas... If members request
certain information in a newsletter then perhaps the committee will in turn
set up a members meeting around the same topic?

But first we need feedback. If no requests are sent then the newsletter
editor will not know what you want to see. So those of you who are members
(or have an interest in becoming members) and do want to see specific items,
contact your local newsletter editor and tell them.

Not all ASTC members / committee members use this list and that includes me,
most of the time. So whilst I think this is an interesting discussion please
don't assume the committee members will all see it. (Some may not even have
access to the Internet). If you have suggestions for your ASTC, contact the
relevant people. Their contact details are in your newsletter. You might
even want put together a proposal and take it along to a meeting :-) Be
positive, we're in this together.

By the way, the editors in Vic and NSW have worked together in the past (and
will in the future) in an attempt to give better value to both groups. This
is completely separate to the merging/non merging of the committees issue.
Also, I can happily say that some members have made specific requests.
Further to that, where possible these requests are being catered for due to
the generosity of people, some of whom are not local members, who have been
good enough to share their knowledge via newsletter contributions.

All of that said... I would give a list of what I do between contracts but
have not been in this position... I don't know if this counts on the list
but I do (in my spare time) try to give assistance to the ASTC where I can.

Cheers

Nancy
