Some more for my hate hit list: when people say "to be honest" about 30 minutes into a conversation. It's as if they've been lying to you up until that point. My favourite late night ABC radio announcer uses it all too frequently--and it grates!! These days, he's also started using "to be genuine". Then there's "going forward", which seems to be rather fashionable at the moment. I recently received a template from our legal division, replete with errors, and a directive that we are to "use the new form going forward". My desk is too close to keep going forward.
