atw: Re: ok rules?

I have my own theory -- but I think it makes more sense, is simpler and
more plausible than any other I've heard. I've always thought 'OK'
derived, through the Americanisation of the accent, from the Scots
expression 'Och, aye' (roughly equal to 'Oh, yeah' for non-Scots).
Anyway, I like my theory -- even if it's not supported by any
scholarship.

Lots of theories, some sillier than others. This one is interesting, if
a touch dogmatic:

Google "OK origin" for the other hundred-odd theories... :-)

Hello Everyone,

I haven't posted for a while... the last time when I used the term 'gang
up' (as in 'ganging up pages' in pagination).

Since it is still holiday season, I wonder if anyone can help me with
the origin of 'ok' aka 'okay' (the latter I think being a phonetic
approach).

Among the explanations I have heard is that it's some corruption of the
German 'alles korrekt' (?). The others seem even more unlikely.
Just out of curiosity, does anyone know?
