atw: Re: managing, storing and distributing internal documentation

You're welcome Nigel - your plan sounds excellent. I actually didn't do
nearly such a nice 'front end' - I just wrote a html file in Notepad and
stuck that over the top of the .chm file - so to speak - the TOC would look
a lot nicer. And setting permissions on the server sounds heaps easier than
even trying to lock stuff down in RoboHelp, so no arguments with that
either.

Cheers,
Andrea

documentation

Thanks for the advice, Andrea.

This is what I was considering doing...

Using RoboHelp, I would create a Web site containing a
TOC. The TOC would represent the directory structure
and each page in the TOC would contain hyperlinks to
the actual files (or even related documents, other
pages on our intranet, or whatever).

The Web site would reside on our Web server and the
hyperlinks would need to point to actual files that are
also stored on the Web server. Each file would need its
permissions set on the actual server itself (not in
RoboHelp).

Would you make any changes to this?

Friendly Regards
Nigel
