atw: Re: forget ANZSIC codes for tech writers - what about work cover?

Steve

I spent a year as an underwriter in workers comp (at Allianz - I'd
highly recommend switching companies if you are with them)

I suspect that's about as low as it'll go (it was a while back I was
there and something I've been trying to erase from memory) Besides if
you are a contractor you should not need workers comp insurance. Only
employees are covered so unless you actually employ someone you are a
sole trader - no cover necessary.

cover?

Hi all,

There was an interesting thread earlier about what ANZSIC industry
codes we all got listed as by our accountants. I'm interested in a
similar review for workers compensation.

I've just got my workers comp renewal and my premium has been
calculated as follows.

 > workcover industry classification: 783400 (Computer Consultancy
Services)
 > basic tariff: 0.3%
 > dust diseases rate: 0.025%

Anyone managed to get themselves under a different classification
that charges a lower percentage?

Steve
