Hi,
Many years ago, I wrote a cheque with that problem -
words said something like $200 and the figure $20. The
cheque was flagged by the bank and a letter was sent
to me stating that the words take precedence over the
figures - so my cheque was put through as $200.
It may have been that particular bank. I certainly
didn't know the rule at the time.
