Partridge was revised a few years ago posthumously and the collective noun section was omitted.
He offers two for writers: "sufficiency" and "vanity". Sort of covers it from both angles, doesn't it? :)

Odd. James Lipton in "An Exaltation of Larks" gives "an eloquence of
lawyers" and this is cautiously attested by the OED. My Partridge is a
different edition so I can't find the entry. The OED doesn't seem to record
this usage.
