In reality writing is a part of technical communication, not the other
way around. There is a lot of writing that communicates very little in
the way of genuine knowledge.

<chuckle>
I agonised for a while over this. Is being a technical communicator
part of being a writer, or is being a writer part of being a technical
communicator?

I don't think I want to argue that hard. :-)

Somewhere there's a better description of what we do, and someday
someone will stumble over it. In the meantime, I'll just keep on doing
it.
