atw: Re: Word table tips

I discovered the Alt-click and Alt-double-click table selection
shortcuts about 3 years ago and promptly became addited to them.
Actually, if you're in a document with a long table, you can use table
selection as a means of bypassing the table: select the table then press
up-arrow or down-arrow to get past it.

Now, gawdammit, we have Word 2003 where alt-click has been hijacked to
trigger the "look it up on the web command".
Well, that's progress. Thanks Bill.

In a Word table, to quickly select a:
* cell - click the left margin of the cell (where the
mouse pointer points to the top-right), or
triple-click in the cell.
* row - click to the left of the row, or double-click
the left margin of a cell. (Mouse pointer points to
the top-right in both cases.)
* column - click the top border of the column (where
the mouse pointer is black and points downwards), or
Alt+click a cell.

To easily scroll to the line below a long table, click
in the table and press (and release) Alt A C T Down
(or in Word 97, Alt A A Down). (In Word 2002, if
you're in Web Layout or Print Layout view and you're
near the top the table, move your mouse pointer over
the table, click the crossed-arrow icon that appears,
and then press Down.)

That reminds me, you might not know that you can click
the little grey bullet-point below the vertical
scrollbar, click an object type such as tables (or
graphics, or even edits), and then click the little
blue arrows to quickly traverse your document.

(These all work in Word 97 and 2002. I don't have
2003. P.S. Anybody got any other tips?)

Hope that helps,
