1) The offending paras have manual formatting applied. If you Ctrl+A (Select
all) and Ctrl+Q (Reset Para formatting) you may get some luck. Word 2003 is
able to indicate and track manual formatting for you.

Hi All:
A Word 2002 problem I had at another site a year ago has popped up again, to
wit some styles perversely refusing to copy from a template. These are _not_
styles with bullets or numbering (I'm a good boy and define these with VB)-
just simple little things cascading off Body Text.
Attach template with auto update does not work. Copy using Organiser does
not work (either by copying the lot or just copying the truculent styles). I
and another user have the same problem, with the same three styles, so at
least I know it is not a random effect.
On another topic, I was posing queries at an excellent Word forum a few
years ago that I have been unable to locate ever after- naturally, I failed
to record the url and email it to myself at home. Any pointers to such a
beastie would be appreciated.
