Yes it was "was mucking up the docs created from your
template too".

Going File > New > from that template came up with
blank graphics, because Word changed the file paths
to ..\\..\PIcs\\thing.bmp and the like, which only
worked when viewing the template itself.

It's all the fault of the Gates Brothers:
Bill, Flood and Toll, and their late Mother, Pearly.
