But does the Shorter O also endorse your spelling 'favorite', ahead of
'favourite'?? Sorry, couldn't resist that observation ...
A point worth checking... these are actually given equal status.
Sometimes, variant forms are labelled "usually British" or "usually
American", but the editors of this - rather old - version were not
much fashed about dialects.
