(Now O.T.)

Hmm, Howard S,

If only I could have used the "dog ate my homework" excuse!

At the time, however, I had a baby map terrapin
named Tortle.

"Tortle spied my homework through the glass of his tank and
incensed by a blatant grammatical error, climbed up the
river pebbles and his floor tile cave, over the filter,
waddling dripping wet all over my pen and ink written
essay. Then, using his poweful jaws, grabbed the assignment
dragging it back into his tank, jumping up and down on the
pages until it disintegrated in the water." - while very
inventive might not have rung true with my teachers.

Tortle was just not big, vindictive or grammatical enough
to do such a thing.

His eventual successor Monté (short for Montevideo
Chelodina Longicollus) the Australian Long Nexked Tortoise,
acquired much later in my life, however, would have relished
in doing just that. Monté now lives in the lakes at the
Royal Melbourne Zoo, Parkville, teaching English to other
amphibian reptiles.

Cheers,

Micky G.

It's OK, Michael! We won't expel you (yet).

At the risk of seeming to rouse on an innocent, I have to tell you,
Michael, that I'd rate this 'excuse' as coming very close to 'the dog
ate my homework'! (Don't get me wrong, though - I do believe you and
know you wouldn't intentionally make us read your words twice over...)

Howard
