A bit more detail on these two points.
1. Prioritising incoming requests
A) My manager deals with this, all work requests for me have to go through
her. Most of my work is generally pending other people.
B) I maintain a laminated sheet of current tasks and their priority on my
wall which is frequently reviewed by manager.
C) We keep detailed records of my time spent against specific tasks on a
managed timeline. This will allow for more accurate future estimations -
which were already pretty accurate anyway.
D) Minor tasks I write down in my workbook / outlook tasks for later.
E) Have a style guide and a document register to record new designs in, or
reference for use in selecting appropriate templates for reuse / rework.
Do we need anything else at this stage? Any tips for the above?
2. Requests for system changes
A) My manager has an existing change management system (CMS) that is applied
before I am set to task over it :-) Most of the time this is my manager
approving a feasibility study as step 1. That is, she rejects a lot of
requests as outside of scope for the immediate future. The rest she
discusses with me before deciding on a priority and required budget.
Are you implying we develop a CMS specifically for documentation? I was
thinking more along the lines of the one CMS, with different approval tables
for the two approval steps for different change types. With a total dept of
2 its almost irrelevant :-) I think you are suggesting I concentrate on risk
management, by ensuring we mitigate potential negative change effects and
pre-scoping work requests?

Set up two systems:
1. one to handle incoming demands and place them in priority order, and 2.
the other to handle requests for system changes.
