Dear Sheetal (Laviena),
Light bulb is what I have always used, plus it is listed in the large, ha=
rd
cover Collins English Dictionary, most recent Australian Edition (noted
as "Sometimes shortened to bulb.) whereas light globe is not listed.
(The third definition for bulb in that dictionary states "see light bulb"=
.)
The fifth (less commonly used) definition for globe, in that dictionary,
is listed as Austral, N.Z., and S. African. an electric light bulb.
So globe, by itself is acceptable, if colloquial, whereas light bulb is
the preferred expression.
Depending on the composition (expertise and origin) of your intended
audience, therefore, I recommend using "light bulb" unless you'd
prefer to use the less common term (if that would be more appropriate
for your intended audience members) and explain globe in the Glossary
for your document.
Hope That Helps (HTH).
Cheers,
Michael

Hi fellow tech-writers....
We've had a bit of discussion over this in my team here at MYOB. Here's a=
question for you:
If you were writing for an Australian audience, what do you say a light
bulb or a light globe?
Thanks
Sheetal Laviena.
