"Lamp" in Australian trade terms is a device which holds the globe or bulb.
So you would buy a lamp and fit a 20 watt globe in to it.

I don't think anyone will be too confused whichever
you use. Like you, I prefer British over American
English.
I see that projectors *tend* to use lamps or bulbs.
Lamp is often used to mean the whole fitting. So a
headlamp includes the reflector and bulb or globe.
Use of 'lamp globe' seems odd to me, but it is used.
