Oh also, Helen (H)
A Quick Weight Loss Tip for Linked & Embedded Graphics Rich Word Files:
If the graphics in the document are already
linked and embedded, there's a very simple fix to
un-embed them from the document and dramatically
reduce the file size in seconds:
Alt+F9 (or Tools > Options > View (tab) > Show
(pane) Field codes > OK) displays all the field codes in the document.
Search for the INCLUDEPICTURE ? in { field code
brackets } go to the end of the field code string
and type \d (backslash d) which instructs Word to
"do not include" the image itself in the document
but only refer to its link unstead.
Then press Ctrl+A (Edit > Select All) and F5
(right click > update fields) and Bob's your
uncle! (Choose whether to update the TOC fields or not when requested.)
This can also be done (tediously) on a per linked
graphic basis using the Edit > Links... activated Links dialog.
Once you re-save the file, it will shrink its megabytes size accordingly.
Hope that helps,
Cheers,
Micky G.
