atw: Re: Upgrading computers

Hey Christine.

Visit your tech guy and ask for a new hard drive for the old machine. You
can get Vista with a new hard drive (loophole in the licensing) and order
the new computer. You can transfer your older XP license to a new hard drive
- licensing again. Doesn't actually say which computer the older XP licensed
hard drive has to go to you see. You'll love XP on a duo core with a couple
of gig of RAM. Blow your mind. Faster than anything in Tassie let me tell
you...

BUT. Without a duo core CPU, Vista probably won't work. Just won't. Won't
even spit at you I'll bet. And don't run an antivirus with it. So do see
your tech guy about that. You will certainly have to upgrade your RAM on
your old machine, probably in the region of 3 to 4 Gig of Ram to have any
hope on an older CPU. Vista is, a real bad dog.

You can and will continue to be able to for some time btw, order XP on new
machines. I notice that many specials are now offering order numbers for XP
again! Much to MS chagrin. Vista is universally not being accepted. My
businesses will not be downgrading under any circumstances. We tried it and
it was abysmal. My business partner is still waiting for the first Vista
machine to boot up, five months after we turned it on for the staffer. (The
staffer was buried last month after we prised the skeleton off the seat.)

It is far worse than Win 3.11. In fact, it might be better to go back
there... At least we could consistently get the blue screen of death. Vista
does NOTHING...

Merry Christmas. Damn where did that year go. Hey, why don't the years slow
down like we do when we get older?
Blessings to all.
Warren.

Guys, basic question.

My old computer has XP and Office 2007 for which I own legal and registered
copies.

I am contemplating buying a new computer with much more grunt.

I need a copy of Vista but am not keen to work on Vista. SO

I want to put XP and Office 2007 on my new computer.

I want to put Vista and the same Office 2007 licence on my old computer.

There will never be more than one person working across the two computers.

Will Microsoft let me do some or all of this?

Is this where "keys" come in.
