I can hardly wait until the government makes it
"easier for business to hire and fire". They'll then
be able to do what they did to Erica's mum no matter
how many years of good service.
On being over-qualified... I've found that with a
bachelors and two masters degrees, it is really easy
to get contract work, but almost impossible to get
permanent work.
That could possibly be because my salary expectations
are too high. But they seem happy enough to pay what I
want while on contract. Or, it could be that, almost
invariably, I've been more qualified than the
potential bosses. Then they always ask *that*
interview question: "what do you want to be doing 5
years from now?"
I've always assumed that if you say 'the same job'
they'll think you've got no ambition. If you say 'get
into management' they feel threatened. If you say
'move on to proj mgnt', you're probably going to be
competing with them for that job. What is the correct
answer?
Cheers
Terry
