The difficulty with the approach of using the in-built dictionary is
that any previous user may have added spellings to the 'standard'
dictionary, and you won't know whether a word being checked/passed has a
kosher US spelling or that of one of your colleague's addenda.
The inbuilt US English dictionary only works for the very first time you
install Word, unless you inhibit the addition of neologisms.
So, probably better to spell it the way you want it to appear with the
US English dictionary selected, as a second opinion.
Brian.
Naomi asked:
If you're writing a manual which must be in US English, do you
specifically use US spellings, or do you just write the manual, then use
spellcheck to convert?
