atw: Re: Turning off Track Changes in Word 2003 [SEC=UNCLASSIFIED]

Oh yes, it shows everything from the past... the whole shebang: insertions and
deletions, comments, the lot...
And it was definitely turnign on the entire suite of Track changes
possibilities. Damn nuisance. I have now set the "Make hidden banana's pickable
thing" nonsense in security to 'off'. We'll see if that offs the problem...

Otherwise I might go and find a little man on a treadmill and top him... Or a
squirrel. Actually, it is Friday. Beer.

Thanks all.
Warren.

I was wondering whether Warren, in his original post, meant to say that 'Making
hidden mark-up visible when saving or opening' is the Word 2003 default
behaviour, rather than having Track Changes enabled.

That would make sense of the subsequent discussion, which was puzzling me
greatly. It would be very strange and frustrating if the default, when you
create a new document, was to have it marked up (with change bars,
strikethrough text and colours) as you write, every time you substitute one
word for another or move a piece of text. Was that really the behaviour you
were complaining about, Warren? (I notice that you do mention problems with
insertions and deletions, so maybe that *was* really your problem.)

Normally I only ever use Track Changes when editing someone else's work.

I have word 2003 on my laptop, and the track changes don’t go on when I
open word documents.

However, some enterprises may have it set up this way, to encourage all changes
to be recorded.
