Another one I use is closing an application.  Rather than go to the top
right for the Close button, or to the top left for the File menu, I use
Alt + F4.  It's the fastest and easiest way I know to close a screenful
of applications.  On Win98 it can also be used to close Windows.
 
My favourite is the one I use each morning when opening a Word
document.  Shift + F5 takes me to the place I finished working last
night.  It's a sort of caffiene-less semiautomatic mind-jogger.   :-)
