atw: Re: Tips: Save your collective mice's balls!

Thanks Craig (H)

For those of us with recently produced keyboards, pressing either of the
two Windows logo Flag keys (either side of the space bar, to the outside
of the Alt keys) also performs the Ctrl+Esc function.

You might also like to know that Ctrl+Shift+Esc displays the Windows
Task Manager dialog on all of the NT based versions of Windows
(including NT 5, AKA 2000 and NT 6, AKA XP).

Am pretty sure that the click in task bar button to minimize trick
also works on Windows 98 OSR2, which I use at home.

Don't forget the Windows Flag+D (reveal / hide Desktop) function.

Hope that also helps.

Cheers,

Michael

(After all the name-calling etc, here's something that's _nearly_ on-topi=
c!)

A few tips for Windows, which you may or may not know...

* To maximize or restore a window, double-click its title bar. (No
need to go way over to the Maximize/Restore button!)
* To switch between open documents in a single program (such as Word,
or FrameMaker), press Ctrl+F6. To cycle in the opposite direction (with 3=
=20or
more windows), press Ctrl+Shift+F6. (Often quicker than using the Window
menu, but not as quick as a motorbike. :->)
* To close a minimized window without having to restore it,
right-click its taskbar button and choose Close.
* To minimize the current window, click its taskbar button. (Sometimes
more convenient than using the Minimize button. Win 2k and XP only.)
* To open the Start menu, press Ctrl+Esc. E.g. to shut down your PC,
press Ctrl+Esc U (for shUt down) Enter. (Ctrl+Esc also displays the taskb=
ar,
if you've set it not to display all the time.)

Hope that helps,
Craig=20
