Stet is an old term from the printing industry.
I first learned to use it when correcting printer's proofs in the public 
service.

See the AGPS Style Guide, or whatever it is called these days, for correct 
usage

from Macquarie dictionary

1. let it stand (a direction on a printer's proof, a manuscript, or the 
like to retain cancelled matter, usually accompanied by a row of dots 
under or beside the matter). 
--verb (t) 2. to mark with the word `stet' or with dots.
