Christine,
This reinforces an observation of mine - Word developers are geeks.
This is why some geeks can use many of the obscure features of Word but
cannot write a sentence.

Guys

I am writing a course for Word 2007 using 2007. I decide to get students
to
use the rather attractive in-built templates to create a document and then
to take them through to see what is what. So I create a resume from a
resume template. I fill it in as I expect the students to. Then I click
through the text to see what style is attached to each item - as part of a
guided tour of what styles are. Imagine my surprise when I find soft line
breaks to fudge line spacing, and list styles used to get the correct
margin, with the number switched off, and normal manually formatted!

So much for that idea. Back to the drawing board.

Now you would think the designers of Word templates would know how to use
styles, wouldn't you!
