Thanks Nigel. Having had a quick look, it seems excellent, so I've printed
it to read on the way home. 

I also forwarded it to friends in the field, and my local member of the
Grammar Police. (I don't know how much good it'll do with the latter, but
it's worth a try. Hopefully we can exorcise some of those "ghosts of
childhood grammar classes" that seem to linger strongest in the Grammar
Police themselves.)
