atw: Re: Starting Word 2002+ from RUN without its painful task pane

Well Elizabeth F,

Ta but Terry D just beat you to the punch and E-mailed me
direct about the Tools / Options / View way to turn this
off. Ta Terry.

Too many years of MS-DROSS use would be my first response.
Hadn't seen it in my usual Word (2000) travels would be
my second.
Working in a ridiculously locked down desktop environment,
in which I cannot change US abnormal.dot would be another.

Michael

Any particular reason why you don't set up your normal.dot to be non-futile A4, and turn the task pane off in the options?

Hi folks.

For ages, I have run Word from the WinDoze Run prompt, so
as to have it start without its usual, totally futile
blank US Letter size document, by:
1. Pressing Flag+R to display the Run prompt.
2. Typing winword /n
3. Pressing Enter.

That still works fine, with Word 2002, here at a customer
site but, I wonder if there is a startup switch that can
make the horrid 2002+ task pane fail to appear as well.

Couldn't even find the startup switch information that
used to be in Word help in the 2002 version of the help.

Please advise with your ideas and any other handy startup
switch options to use at the Run prompt.

Cheers,

Michael
