atw: Re: Sorry, one last try (FYI: Microsoft Expression)

My thoughts:

Acrylic: MS have no art production package. This will be it. Hope they do a
good job.
Sparkle: VBA Userforms designer on steroids, cocaine and genetic
re-engineering. Seen some previews of this, WOW!
Quartz: FP is a glorified HTML editor, not a web site designer. Wait n see
:-)

Subject: atw: Sorry, one last try (FYI: Microsoft Expression)

Microsoft has announced a suite of visual/graphics products called Microsoft
Expression Studio. It comprises three applications:

Acrylic Graphic Designer - "an advanced environment for creating
professional graphic designs for onscreen, web, and smart client
   applications."

Sparkle Interactive Designer - "a rich interface and layout design tool
for designing Windows Presentation Foundation (Avalon) user interfaces
   and content."

Quartz Web Designer - "a professional design tool for creating standards
based web content. This product is aimed at Web designers."

Acrylic sounds like Deneba Canvas (a single product to handle both vector
illustration and photo/bitmap editing) though no doubt it's aimed squarely
at Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. Quartz sounds like GoLive or
Dreamweaver, but perhaps with XML in the background. Sparkle sounds like...
well, one of the Tooth Fairy's little helpers.

Acrylic was formerly "Creature House Expression (formerly Fractal Design
Expression)". I think Quartz and (grimace) Sparkle were developed by
Microsoft.
