Jill, and everyone else. Apologies I did not respond to this query
earlier, I have not read emails for a few days.
In Visio:
Select all and move the diagram to the bottom left of the drawing area.
Calculate the height and width of the diagram in mm or whatever (using
the rulers and guides).
Record that.
Now:
File, Page Setup.
Click the Custom size tab.
Select Custom size. Enter the height and width information.
Click OK; and the image should resize. (The resize usually measures from
the bottom left corner.)
Now, save as a .wmf (a bug in Visio 2000 means the embedded filter only
saves to the desktop or somewhere on the pc you are working on). Save
the wmf file on the local drive somewhere.
Import the .wmf into Word or wherever. The quality of the imported wmf
file will be very high, whereas gif, bmp and jpg are not so good.
jpg, gif, bmp and other standard file types can be lossy when exporting
from Visio. I think they are preset to web based stuff and don't handle
print options very well. This becomes apparent with large (around A3
size) diagrams.
Warren.

Thankyou to everyone. I had tried most of those ideas; however I tried
a copy all and then pasted it onto another Visio page before I copied it
to Word. This fixed the problem so there must have been something on the
original I couldn't see or find.
Thank you
Jill

Subject: [Norton AntiSpam] atw: A very simple visio to word question
I am importing a Visio diagram into a Word doc, but I am also importing
a large white space at the bottom of the diagram. I cannot get rid of
the white space despite trying various methods of transfer etc etc for
quite a time.
This has never happened before - does anyone know what I can do to get
rid of the white space while keeping the proportions of the diagram? The
diagram is an object not a picture.
Thanks
Jill
