Best of luck with seeing what else is out there.  I worked a contract where
they refused to buy me a screen capture utility.  So I went through all the
free trials.  I started with the 1 month of SnagIt, then anything else I
could find.  That was a few years back, but nothing else came close.

It might be time to see what else is out there, particularly since the
SnagIt support team STILL have not returned my email and it has now been
over 48 hours.

Free, limited features, but performs the basic screen capture utility role
reliably, in my experience. There is a professional version with editing
functionality if you want that.

I wouldn't go back to SnagIt; my perception is that SnagIt is suffering from
feature bloat and is not being adequately tested before release.
