Hi Sue (W) and Bruuce (A)
There is a swag of freeware screen capture tools
available at http://www.freewarehome.com/ under
the Graphics / Screen Capture area.
My personal favourite of these, which is a tiny
application (in a 248kb ZIP file that doesn't get
much bigger when unarchived) which can be
installed on a memory stick (or even a floppy
disk - remember them?) is Screen RIP 32, which is
also available direct from the Progeny Software
Web site at http://www.progency.com/other.html
Grabs areas, hot regions, does great quality
saves in various file types, has hot key support and is a delight to use.
As it states at Freeware Home:
This is a freeware program screen capture
utitlity (sic) that let's you capture areas of
the screen in a variety of methods. Supports
different image formats such as ICO, BMP, JPG,
and GIF support (animated or standard). You can
even view and/or create animated GIF's with full
options. Convert or capture images as different color depths.
Screen RIP 32 1.0ß has been an invaluable tool
for me for several years now. So I still
wholeheartedly recommend it, as I have done before on this list.
Hope that helps.
Regards,
Michael Granat

Hi Bruce,
I have been using Hypersnap forever (http://www.hyperionics.com/) and have
never had a problem with it. It is $35US, best $35 I ever spent. I bought it
instead of SnagIT because I could swap between window and region capture
without going back to the menu. I can also use it at client sites by
installing it on a USB drive and capturing screens straight onto the drive.
I suspect you can do the same with SnagIT too, but I have found this a very
useful feature.
Good luck!
