atw: Re: Section Breaks

Thanks for all the suggestions guys - can't check them out now - dog walkies
are higher priority - but will work them out later.

I can't use columns to show section breaks - I'm talking 2007 which has
lovely columns functionality that I don't want to complicate, but a change
from no columns to columns in the same document might do it.

Also separating out a heading page is another possibility (if I just forget
to tell them about "different first page").

Also like the idea of form fields if the same can work with content controls
- will explore that too.

Christine,

I usually put a continuous section break before and after a section with
columns.

I just tried it and selected Columns without putting in a break and the
marvelous Word slipped in the breaks without me having to ask. How nice
(cough cough).

Guys, bear with me for another apparently dumb question.

Is there any reason why you would use a section break in a short document?

The competencies for the Word course I am writing require me to cover
Section Breaks, but nowhere in the course do I have a document long enough
to warrant sections. The competencies do not require table of contents or
index, different headers and footers, forcing odd or even pages at the
start of genuine sections etc. Any ideas?

Regards

Christine
