The SEQ field is useful where you have one or two long lists of items
through a document (figures, tables, etc.).
The LISTNUM field is useful if you want numbers within a paragraph.
However, if you want to number lists of steps and sub-steps - as in
procedures, for example - I suggest using Numbering attached to
user-defined styles.

Subject: atw: SEQ fields for sub-steps?
Hi all,
I'm back to using Word after a long stint with FrameMaker...can't win
'em all! I've set up a numbered step style using SEQ fields. Now I want
to do the same for sub-steps a, b, c etc. but I'm not having any luck.
Can you use SEQ fields only for numerals? If so, what's the best way to
set up my sub-steps?
Thanks,
Sonja
