atw: Re: SEC: UNCLASS Plain English and corporate notices

Howard has touched one of my sensitive spots. I have seen and complained about heaps of notices and I occasionally get sufficiently motivated to do something about it. A case in point is a two-line scrolling overhead sign on a (Sydney) motorway that advised slowing down in wet weather. Imagine: it's raining, you're doing 100 km/h downhill into a left-hand curve just before an off ramp, and you have to take your attention off the road because some halfwit spent too much time playing with his electronic toy. Some people should be banned from making public statements.

I'll spare you my collection of idiotic signs and notices, but I once went around a supermarket and removed all the misspelt price tickets. If you can't copy a brand name off the packet onto a ticket, you shouldn't be writing tickets. The management were miffed, but they agreed with me.
