atw: Re: Recommendations - tools for online training modules

Hi Deborah

Coming in a bit late on this. Craig (B) recommended Breeze which may be
fine if your organisation has deep pockets. Another Macromedia
alternative is Captivate (ex-RoboDemo) which can create demos or
simulations. Simulations can record user interaction and score it, with
the results being sent to a SCORM-compliant database. You can also add
extra question 'pages' and I guess you could even set up a Captivate to
just be questions without using its screen recording facilities.

So far, I've only used Captivate for software demos (no user
interaction), so I can't tell you more about this process. You can get
more details from the Macromedia website.

Subject: atw: Recommendations - tools for online training modules

Greetings all,

In the next few months I will be looking at developing some online
training modules for a suite of software. People would use the modules
to understand the basics of each package, rather than attending a
training course. The modules will need to test whether the participant
has understood the lesson.

Can anyone recommend a suitable tool for this? I can just build things
myself in HTML or similar, but I know there are tools out there that
allow you to build tests and display videos and the like.

Many thanx :)
