Well yes and no, Brian (Clarke)

The Austechwriter archive @
<http://www.freelists.org/archives/austechwriter/>
displays (and forwards) postings as plain text, fixed width fonts, with n=
o
formatting except for a bold subject line on the Web page.

The whole idea was to have a line of 60 characters at the top of the page=
,
use it for alignment purposes, as a visual guide / rule of thumb for
regulating the line length of the text that follows (when to hit return)
so that the Austechwriter mail server doesn't force line breaks at sixty
characters by itself, thereby adding an overflow error itself to
your posting.

The poor old Freelists postings archive tool was just trying to tell us
that it was having a problem with longer than 60 character lines and
nobody was listening.

So, as no formatting survives the transfer, it is pointless to have any
in your postings.

I use the plain text setting for my E-mail anyway.

Fixed width fonts. Plain ASCII.
A character is a character. Numeric or not.

Welcome to the way things used to be in the BBS days.

Cheers,

Michael

Nice try, Michael [Granat],
However, your number fonts have different lateral widths from your letter=
=20fonts.=20
Hence, though your text line has 72 characters it doesn't appear to excee=
d your=20
numerical 60 character line length.

Back to the drawing board?

Brian.
