atw: Re: Questions on IBM quality book

Yes, I'd recommend it. I think any tech writer would get their money's
worth. It would be especially useful as a way to encourage a common
approach among all the writers, editors and reviewers in an organisation.
In fact, I first came across this book was when I was starting a contract
with a new client and the senior guy loaned me a copy of the first edition
(hi Col!). The book was used to show people "how we do things around here".

The book is very practical. I like that it's mostly about developing
content--writing, rewriting, organising, reviewing, testing, evaluating. It
doesn't try to give you the 30,000 ft tour of XML, Javascript, font design,
etc. I also like that it goes into a lot of detail on TW topics that are
often left at a high level (Focus on user's tasks! Chunk material
appropriately!)

I'm not too familar with Sydney bookshops, but don't a few of them provide
a discount to STC members? They would be the ones to start with.
