Who is named as the copyright holder?
That is where the liability lies.

Not necessarily. If you are a supplier to the copyright holder,
say a mining company, you are guaranteeing to them (your client)
that the instructions you are writing for their employees to follow will
not cause them to take any action that might damage property, or
maim or kill people.

The smart thing to do is to insert into your contract that the client
agrees to vet all content and to accept responsibility for the statements
made therein, etc. etc. Also, on completion of the contract, copyright
in the work and resposibility for statements passes to the client. You
know a smart lawyer who can draft this for you.

You might also point out that you are not in the same league as someone
who is supplying $1.2 million dollar dump trucks and that the harm that
your text could do would be quite modest and that furthermore your PI and PL
is only going to cover the lower end of disasters.

Hedley
