Another distinction between processes and procedures (useful in many of the
environments that I have worked in) is that processes often cross functional
areas...
For example a purchasing *process* integrates the procedures for:
- raising a purchase order (can be done by all staff)
- approving and sending a purchase order (done by those with appropriate
financial delegations)
- data entry into financial software (done by the financial / assets group?)
- entering goods received into assets database (done by the assets area)
