Yep - exactly - often also includes a process map at the beginning that =
shows
briefly what the 'inputs' are to the 'process and then what the =
'outputs' are

What usually precedes process documentation is 'Policy'
Therefore, 'policy'> leads to 'process'> leads to 'procedure'
- All stepping stones to quality accreditation - but that's another
discussion.

Procedure could also equal 'work instruction 'Standard Operating =
Procedure'
etc - all depends on the environment / organisation that you work in

I have been given the task of documenting a lot of the operations at
Unisys. One of my colleagues has very strong views on the meaning of
"process" and "procedure" and that they are totally different. I have
checked out the dictionary definitions and the definition given leaves
it open to discretion on what these 2 words mean. (www.dictionary.com)

My understanding of is that a document that covers the "process" would
be cover the aspects of the operation at a high level (birds eye view -
not too much detail) and a document that covers the "procedure" would
cover the operation in a granular, step by step way.=3D20

What are your thoughts on "process" documentation versus "procedure"
documentation? Would you agree or disagree with my understanding? What
other terminology could be used as a substitute to either of these
words?
