Now, isn't that interesting!
I thought that you hyphenate words when you use them as adjectival phrases, but
not if you use them as a noun phrase. Here are a couple of examples:
real-time = adjectival phrase - example of use - real-time analysis
real time = adjective followed by qualified noun - example of use - do that
task in real time rather than delay.
end-of-day = adjectival phrase - example of use - an end-of-day report
end of day = noun phrase - example of use - I will wait till the end of day.
