Hi Marcus,
Talk with other part-time teachers at your intended TAFE. You'll probably find
they
all run shelf companies. Before accepting the position:
a.. ask your intended TAFE who covers Workers Compo and any other insurance;
b.. look at the required Learning Outcomes you are expected to impart;
c.. look at the preparation time you will have to put in;
d.. ask the other full-time teachers whether you can use their lecture plans
and
lists of required resource materials;
e.. ask your intended employer what your obligation is for on-going
assessment
of student progress;
f.. ask who writes the assessment instruments;
g.. ask who adjudicates when students play up - they will.
I've been there and been done by that.
Cheers,
Brian.

Subject: atw: Part-time contracting question
An opportunity has come up for me to teach part-time at TAFE for 2 hours =
per week while retaining my full-time PAYG job.=20
A colleague mentioned to me it's worth considering setting up a company =
name so that the TAFE income won't be taxed at the highest rate.
I'd like to hear your opinion if you think this is a worthwhile step or =
perhaps not given the low number of teaching hours.
Any pointers appreciated.
