atw: Re: PDF help needed!

Dear Ilana (C) and Naomi (K).

To me, this sounds like a combination of a few issues.

1. Windows resources.

Shut down and restart your PC to clear its memory.
Run the print job with the absolute minimum of other applications
running and resource hogs in place.

Even set your windows desktop background picture to "None" to free up
more video memory.

(Right click over the desktop and select Properties from the pop up
menu, then select none in the Background tab.)

2. OLE horrors in floating frames.

Avoid them wherever you can.

(If printing from Word's "Normal" view, rather than from page layout
view, the "printer" might not even "see" them as being there.)

Check your Print Preview to see if they display.

You would be wise to save each PowerPoint slide as a Windows Metafile
or bitmap and import a link to it into a single celled table.

OLE linked and embedded objects use heaps of system resources and
often cause such woes.

Almost certainly using linked but externally saved graphics rather than
OLE ones in floating frames will fix this.

3. Remote source PowerPoint files.

The link might be corrupt or incorrect or the source file (if on a
network drive) might be missing (or locked in use by another person
or process).

But avoid the OLE objects and floating frames and you should get
through this okay.

As always, save and back up your files before making any major changes.

Good luck with it.

HTH.

Michael
