Yes I believe that the Norton tools for the Mac work just fine (well, in a
typically Mac like fashion anyway) as they always have.  The result of
being created and improved by a separate (totally Mac oriented)
development team for a totally different operating system to any flavour
of Windows, the new Mac OSX being very HP-UX / UNIX like.

I don't think that your options for the Mac are anywhere as limited as you
have been led to understand.

Join your local Mac User Group and find out for sure.

I bet you have plenty of viable options just waiting for you to discover.
