Hi Allan.

I'm a bit off the air at the moment while my kids are down from FNQ with
me for a fortnight's school vacation contact visit.

Recommendations:
Antivirus:
CA Vet has been awesome on my PC (very fast in operation and takes far
less system resources than Norton) especially since the new version that
appends the antivirus signature files rather than downloading the entire
thing every time, making it much faster to update over a dialup connection.

There's the (freeware for personal use) AVG antivirus from Grisoft that
many of my friends swear by, not at.

There's the magnificent and intensively well supported (but relatively
pricey - but worth it) Sophos Antivirus from <http://www.sophos.com/>.

...and last but far from least, the superb Trend Micro antivirus,
from <http://www.trendmicro.com.au/>.

Any of which leave the Norton antivirus bloatware in their wake.

Not knocking the Norton Utilities, however, without which my WinDoze 98
OSR2 P of C would not survive.

As for software firewalls, I've said it many times:  Sygate!  (Even the
freeware version is Superb.)
