The first paragraph of that article mentions the ultra-portable
Asus Eee PC. I recently bought one, a model with 4GB of internal
storage and 512 MB of RAM. I think it will be a good travel
computer for situations where I want more functions (and faster
Internet access) than my phone provides, but where I don't expect
to do much typing. The latter (not much typing) suits my habits
these days, unlike a few years ago when I was doing serious work
on the road.

Because I'm using it as a hobby computer, I won't mind voiding
the warranty by opening it up to install more RAM if I find it
too limiting as it is -- or doing other hacks that I wouldn't
consider doing on my main machine.

I like it well enough that I'm seriously considering buying one
of the new models (with a larger screen, more storage, and more
memory) when they arrive later this year.
