No, it isn't just you. The whole thing is verging on a hoax; there are some
very important clues that enable us to work out -- often quite quickly -- what
each word is in its "native" form (even when the anagram is defective), and a
completely random jumble of the letters in each word would prove far more
baffling.

I thought I'd seen this here before; must've been a different list. Googling
for some of the anagrammatic words might lead to more info.
